I know, no new updates. Quite busy with my studies. But now, here I am, I'm back, with my new gear... yup, sold my Nikon D90.

I can say this was just some test shot to get use to my new gear. At first, I was planning to use a white paper behind the glass and lit it, making the glass glow from the lit paper behind. This would give the photo a sense of sheen. But sadly, the paper rejected the strobe of my flashgun from penetrating. Therefore i decided to just get rid of the paper and use the wall as a reflector instead.

What I'm trying to do here is to play around, be creative and try to make an ordinary glass (cheep glass) to look like a glass of a higher class . Therefore making the picture looks like it had been shot by a professional photographer. With just a little creativity and ideas can do a lot of wonders. I learn that there is no right or wrong in taking photos, but there are better ways of doing so to create a picture beyond expectation.

Vintage Camera | Yashica FX-7

Yashica was a Japanese manufacturer of camera. Began in 1949, producing clocks. Then they introduce their first camera the Yashimaflex (a TLR camera) in 1953. In 1983, all Yahsica brand camera were marketed by Kyocera (a multinational manufacturer). Sadly in 2005, Kyocera halted the production of Yashica cameras.

What I have here is a Yashica FX-7, a 1980's classic SLR camera. Few can be found nowadays, most have been kept as antiques while some people still  use it to express their love in film photography.

Enough with the history talk. This Japan made camera is still functioning. Shutter speeds are excellent. There are few minor scratches here and there on the metal body while the leather is a little bit torn. But the design of this camera makes it look astonishing. Quite nostalgic using this camera. Reminds me of my childhood... buying films, sending the used films to a camera shop to develop and all . Just like old times. The only big difference is that, in the old days I just use a point and shoot camera. This on the other hand is a manual SLR camera.

Japan | Land of the Rising Sun

On the 12 of December 2010, i get a chance to visit Japan for 1 whole week. A memorable vacation trip with my family and cousins. Places that we went was Tokyo, Osaka, Kobe, Kyoto and Mount Fuji.

Japan is a modern country. It was because of the Meiji restoration and modernization in the early 1868 that have made Japan to be able to modernize rapidly compared to other European countries. They have Toyota Motor Corporation (The world's largest automobile manufacturer in the world), hybrid cars (Prius went on sale in Japan in 1997), 6 bullet trains (The first bullet train was opened in 1964) and many more.

The best part about Japan, even though they are way modern then other countries, they still preserve their culture. They rebuild and restore historical temples. They even reuse and preserve their vintage design bicycles. Can u imagine that they still use classic non touchscreen clam shell flip phones while other countries uses modern touchscreen smartphones. But their phone uses 3G (an early version of 3G called FOMA) for calling while other countries still uses standard line. How cool is that!!
